How to Create Free Response Questions in DoExam
Introduction
Free Response questions are a type of question with
descriptive answers that can range from a single word to several lines. This
style of question is used to assess the participant's mastery of the presented
material, and the test organizer must compare the participant's response to the
correct answer and manually assign their score.
Some features provided by Free Response questions to both
the organizer and the participant include:
- Unlike other types of questions in DoExam, marking for these types of questions is done manually by the test organizer and according to their opinion, instead of automatically.
- To make the marking process faster and easier, unanswered questions are automatically given a score of zero.
- Participants can edit their answers multiple times, even after submitting their previous responses.
Creating Free Response Question
1. Click on the Question Studio option from the side menu of the page.2. Click on the plus icon at the bottom of the page.3. Select the question Mark icon (New Question) to go to the Interaction Type page.4. On this page, choose the Free Response question type among the various types of questions and follow the steps below:
- Question: Enter your desired question.
- Correct Answer: Filling this field serves as an additional explanation for the participant, which will be shown to them in a separate box after the exam.
- Solution: In this section, enter the correct answer to the question to be shown to the participant after the exam.
- Difficulty Level - From the Test Organizer's Perspective: In this section, determine the difficulty level of the question from Very Easy to Very Hard.
- Parent Shelf: From this section's drop-down menu, select your desired shelf in order to add the question to it.
- Tags: Assign your desired tag(s) to the question.
- Create in Library: To complete the question creation process, click on this option.
Note: Entering the question and assigning a tag are
necessary steps.
Note: The arrow icon next to each field provides you with
options to change text styles, such as bold or italic, and to add formulas and
media.
